There's a stupid game out there which involves necking down a strong drink in one gulp whilst on webcam on a dare from friends. It's called Neknominate and as with over indulgence with a lot of things can lead to problems for those doing it, sometimes lethal ones...

The mother of one of the girls involved in a drinking game that left a nine-year-old in hospital has blamed Facebook for the shocking incident.
She said the three girls, aged eight, nine and 11, stole drinks from her cabinet after watching videos of so-called Neknominate stunts on Facebook.
They then went to a shed where Rhiannon Scully downed a dangerous mix of vodka, whisky and orange juice.
The woman, who is the mother of the 11-year-old girl and gave her name only as Mrs Leader, called for Facebook to ban videos of Neknominations. Three people have died taking part in the drinking craze.
‘The NekNomination videos should be banned to protect the children,' she said.
‘It is not appropriate for Facebook to have these videos on the site when children can access them, especially if people have died as a result. I think it is ridiculous.
‘In reality children as young as eight are on Facebook and they can see these videos which inspire them. Facebook should stop allowing them from being shared. As a parent it does worry us that they can see these things so easily.
‘While I try and monitor my daughter’s Facebook I can only delete things my daughter writes, not what she sees.’
She said she allowed her daughter on Facebook, where users should be at least 13, to keep in touch with friends after moving to County Durham from Portsmouth.

So the woman allowed her daughter to use facebook despite being 11 and the girl egged on a friend who was 9 and also using facebook and this is facebook's fault somehow? From what I can tell the girls were also unsupervised at the time too and clearly had free access to the internet at the time. You'd think anyone with even a modicum of sense could spot that this was a disaster waiting to happen? Granted there will be youngsters about on facebook, but you'd hope at least that a responsible parent would only allow them access when they are in the same room?
Naturally there are calls for facebook to do something about it, deal with a problem for those who shouldn't be on facebook in the first place.
Naturally there are no calls to actually deal with the parents who allowed the situation to develop in the first place...

The Human Rights Act, one of the most odious pieces of legislation foisted upon us by the previous Labour government and naturally supported to the hilt by the Lib Dems as it's necessary to have it and remain in the EU. No one in a civilised society believes criminals should have no rights, but the HRA gives them exactly the same rights as a none criminal and this is where the trouble starts...

A SUDANESE rapist who preyed on girls as young as 13 is suing Justice Secretary Chris Grayling over “frustration and anxiety” caused by a delay to his parole hearing.
Adil Aboulkadir, 38, was jailed for a minimum of four years for his part in the abuse of three vulnerable girls.
He was said to have led a gang of five Darfur refugees who groomed victims aged 14 and 13 in Dartford, Kent.
Aboulkadir had already launched a series of taxpayer-funded ­legal actions which could cost Britain more than £250,000 and block moves to deport him for years.
Now he wants damages, saying his human rights were violated because he had to wait seven months for a court date to argue for his freedom.
Taxpayers paid £125,000 for a legally-aided lawyer and ­interpreter during the gang’s trial at Maidstone Crown Court in 2008. Aboulkadir was convicted of rape and sexual ­activity with a child. But he convinced the High Court that his rights were “arguably” violated by a failure to consider release immediately his minimum jail term ended.
He was freed 16 months ­after the four-year tariff expired. Since 2013 he has been in an immigration centre, fighting a bid to deport him.

I actually feel rather sick at having this monster in the same county as me...
Any sane system would have had him deported the second he left prison, any decent system would have had the child rapist take a bullet in the back of the head the moment he was found guilty of his rape jihad. But no, our system gives the monster a chance at milking the taxpayer because the system hurt his feelings by taking too long.
This man should never have been allowed into the UK, he should not have been allowed to remain, but the lunacy that is the HRA which the government won't remove so in love with the EU that it is gives this scum the chance to stay here and possibly be a risk to other children.
This is socialism in action, this is why the left should be regarded in the same light as Nazis, simply unable to be trusted with what's decent and right.

It should come as no surprise that terrorist subjects are roaming the UK and are being observed by the security services. It should also come as no surprise that periodically such observations are reviewed by a parliamentary committee. Sadly it should also come as no surprise that with Lib Dems in the government there's a problem...

A would-be suicide bomber, a jihadi fighter and an extremist who trained with the failed 21/7 attackers are among six terror suspects who will have restrictions lifted in just two months.
The British citizens, aged 25 to 39, all have close links to Pakistan, Somalia and Iran. They have all been under the supervision of MI5 thanks to Terrorism Prevention and Investigation Measures Orders, which involve tagging, restricting their movements and who they can talk to.
But, according to The Sun, the orders expire on January 26 after two years - and so far Liberal Democrat ministers have refused to allow their renewal.

Now whilst I believe the state has far too much power over us and has with the Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act allowed some in power to abuse their spying on us, I do believe that there are occasions when some people need to be watched. Not necessarily hindered or prevented from living their lives, but kept under observation because they may pose a threat to the rest of us. By threat I do not mean trying to get their kids into a better school or putting the wrong recycling in the wrong bin.
Why do I also have the suspicion that these people do not see themselves as 'British' except when it's convenient for them to be British but rather see themselves as something else, possibly beginning with the m word.

Suspect 2: British train driver, 31, married with three children. Went to Pakistan for terror training in '08.
Suspect 3: Thirty-nine, British, married with five children. Funded brothers' terror activities in Pakistan.
Suspect 4: Trained in 2004 with failed 21/7 bombers. Plotted attacks on UK. Aged 29.
Suspect 5: Iranian/British, 29, went to Somalia in 2006 for training.
Suspect 6: In Afghanistan to fight western troops in 2008 and had terror training in Somalia in 2009. Fought with al-Shabaab.

Can't help but think that there is some sort of common factor linking these people, but it escapes me at the moment ;-)
 Yet again the Lib Dems appear to not have the best interests of the people of the UK at heart... though why the Tories allowed them influence over security measures is beyond me.

Hypocrisy

Picking on the climate change industry is always a target rich subject equivalent to grenading fish in a barrel. After all, if you want hypocrisy of telling us to do one thing whilst they do another, then you only have to look at government environmentalism.

The Whitehall department and its subsidiaries tasked with fighting climate change spent more than £300,000 flying civil servants and ministers around the UK last year, new figures have found.
Ed Davey's Department for Energy and Climate Change spent £148,000 on 668 internal flights, while public bodies attached to it cost the taxpayer another £163,000 on more than 1,000 domestic flights. The new figures were criticised by Green MP Caroline Lucas, who said she found it hard to believe civil servants and ministers could not have taken more eco-friendly trains on some of the journeys.

That would be the same Caroline Lucas arrested and charged for an offence committed at an anti-fracking demo at an oil drilling rig... clearly not the brightest bulb in the box.
As for the getting a train bit, hasn't she heard of Skype, same for the civil servants and ministers? You'd think a temple to the god of global warming would be setting an example of not sinning (for their values of sinning) Then again this is government we're talking about and spunking taxpayers money up the wall is second nature to them along with lying about climate change and hypocrisy.
No, as ever government exists to fund government and we the taxpayer have simply to cough up for their largesse. Heaven forfend that they actually do something useful (does committing suicide count as useful for the government?) it's all spend spend spend and hell breaking loose before the more useless sectors get it in the eye, much easier to sack soldiers...

This wouldn't happen anywhere else

Local councils and government along with the state waste millions on translation services for people who really ought to be speaking the recognised language of the country. Whilst a case can be made for providing Welsh translations in Wales and Scots Gaelic in Scotland, there's no excuse for it in England. Not that you can tell that to the councillors in the islamic republic of Tower Hamlets...

Controversial Tower Hamlets council, which has one of the largest migrant communities in Britain, made the announcement last night after a Bangladeshi man started addressing councillors in Bengali.
The man, who had been listed to ask a question about a local issue in east London, walked to the podium and microphone and spoke for several seconds in Bengali before the Speaker, Lesley Pavitt, asked him to stop.
She said he must speak in English, but he replied that he struggled with the language.
He told the 51 councillors, of whom 30 are of Bangladeshi origin and Bengali speakers, that he should be allowed to continue in his mother tongue.
But a senior council official replied that had he given the town hall enough notice, an official interpreter would have been booked.
The official said he could delay his question until next month’s meeting when a professional would attend.

Oddly enough the people in Tower Hamlets will have to pay for this professional, not the guy asking the question in a tongue which is foreign to this country. Welcome to the lunacy which is multiculturalism in the UK though where every person who does not have a grasp of English needs to have a (free) translator provided for them at our expense.
What should have happened at the meeting was that the guy asking the question be charged for the privilege of asking it in Bengali. If his English isn't good enough, he should have brought along someone whose English was, not be told that he would get his own free professional at ratepayers cost.
Btw this is the same Tower Hamlets council who gives £185,000 a year in grants to community groups who provide free Bengali “mother tongue” classes for children after school... rather than English lessons, you know the language of the country they live in. If their parents want them to speak Bengali, that's their problem, not the problem of a council you'd think?
This is why I believe that the end result of multiculturalism so beloved of leftards will inevitably lead to civil war.

Another black mark on Leveson

The politicians of this country, mainly Labour, but the Coagulation have done little to stop it either, invited in mass uncontrolled immigration. They constantly bleat on about the hordes coming in from Romania and Bulgaria (soon) as well as wringing their hands over the Poles and Balts who came over first. Yet that immigration wasn't the concern of the ordinary people of the UK, oh sure some didn't like them taking on the poorly paid jobs and thought we'd be better off if they hadn't come, but by and large they integrated to a certain extent and many have settled here because our cultures were remarkably similar. What really concerned the ordinary people was the mass uncontrolled immigration of islamics from various countries who had nothing in common with our culture, were divisive in communities, demanded (and got) the right to stay apart and then increased their demands to where they want us to adapt to them and not criticise them, their religion or their barbaric practices in any way shape or form. The have tried to blow us up, poison us, insult our dead, insult our troops and groomed our underage girls and yet expect us to keep silent about it, aided and abetted by the left wing morons infesting the corridors of power in this country along with a few deluded politicians who seek power rather than do what's right.

A TERRORIST convicted of plotting to blow up the London Stock Exchange has been “quietly” released from jail after his sentence was cut on appeal.
Mohibur Rahman’s five-year term for having al-Qaida magazines featuring bomb-making instructions – handed down in February 2012 – was reduced to four and a half years by judges.
Rahman was part of a nine-strong gang who also plotted to target Big Ben, Westminster Abbey and the London Eye in a “Mumbai-style” bomb blitz.
The Islamic radical, 28, was released just one year after admitting possessing an article for a terrorist purpose. He also got credit for being on remand since December 2010.
The Stoke-based plotter is now out on licence.
But reports from a court hearing last May revealed Rahman once told another extremist through a pipe connecting their cells: “When you get released you will be on licence. When you finish your licence you can carry on your work.”
We can reveal the terror cheerleader’s term was slashed by Lord Justice Leveson – the judge who presided over an inquiry into Press standards – at an appeal court hearing at Woolwich Crown Court earlier this month.

Even when we lock them up our judiciary release them back into society quietly and secretly where they can begin their activities again rather than drop them off from 10,000 feet above their 'beloved' islamic shitholes.
We do know that if Leveson had his way we wouldn't even hear about such cases, it would be deemed as not in the public interest. Yet the problems continue to grow and the trials continue. The percentage of islamics in the UK prison system stands at something like 12% yet the supposed islamic population of the UK is about 5%. That ought to have alarm bells ringing somewhere in the seat of power, but it doesn't appear too. The politicians are still wandering down the path of appeasement rather than actually dealing with the problems.
Mass uncontrolled immigration was a disaster for this country to be sure, but it wasn't the mass uncontrolled immigration of the Poles and Balts, it won't be the immigration of Romanians and Bulgarians either, yes there will be problems, but they pale into insignificance of not closing our borders to islamic immigration and expulsion of any group who cause problems, born here or not. If they love islam so much, they can go and live in a country that practices it and see how they like it then.

TERRORISTS planned on bombing a Territorial Army (TA) centre in Luton using a remote controlled toy car to bypass security, a court was told today.
Zahid Iqbal and Mohammed Sharfaraz Ahmed spoke of making an improvised explosive device (IED) based upon instructions in an al Qaida manual.
The recordings played to Woolwich Crown Court revealed plans to attach a bomb to an RC car and send it under the gap of a gate at a TA centre.
In the recordings Iqbal said: "I was looking and drove past like the TA centre, Marsh Road. At the bottom of their gate there's quite a big gap.
"If you had a little toy car it drives underneath one of their vehicles or something."
Iqbal, Ahmed, along with Umar Arshad and Syed Farhan Hussain admitted one count of engaging in conduct in preparation for acts of terrorism.
They pled guilty to the charge between January 1 2011 and April 25 2012 at a hearing on March 1 this year.

This in part is why my blood boils at the mention of 'the religion of peace' by any media outlet, because I'm damned if I can see anything peaceful about this evil totalitarian thought control system masquerading as a religion. Well that's one of the reasons, another is the prevalence of islamic males grooming underage girls in our communities, homophobia, misogyny, female genital mutilation, first cousin marriage (aka incest) polygamy, the return of tuberculosis, child abuse, the teaching that anyone not a muslim is the descendant of pigs and apes, murder of apostates, animal cruelty, electoral vote abuse...
The list goes on and on and yet we are the ones expected to be tolerant of this as it's apparently 'cultural' according to lefty speak, which means whatever they do has to remain above criticism and those who do are the problem, not the barbarians in our midst.
Again and again we have been told we are the ones who must be tolerant when intolerance seems to be an islamic trait and encouraged by the evil left to try and undermine our society so that they can somehow take over. (They'll be the first victims of an islamic takeover, just look at what happened in Iran)
Yet it's getting to the stage where the English at least will no longer tolerate this poison in our midst. Sooner or later we'll snap and there will be a bloodbath, it's almost become inevitable and there are those of us who will make damned sure that those who caused the problem, as well as the problem face the consequences of their treachery.
Their time will come, mark my words...

We only need to get it wrong once...

I'm beginning to wonder if our security forces are becoming stretched, through no fault of their own, but rather by the idiocy of politicians inviting in an alien and hostile culture amongst us. I do have a great del of admiration for some of the work the security forces do, though I believe that the best way to deal with the threats they face is at arms length, they should not really have to be dealing with the likes of this...

The plot – which The Daily Telegraph can also reveal the plot was personally blessed by al-Qaeda’s number five, Abu Zaid al-Kuwaiti, who was killed in a drone strike last year – was the most serious since plans to blow up transatlantic airliners with liquid bombs in 2006.

Yet it does strike me that if our idiot politicians hadn't invited them or their parents in from cultures which clearly cannot or will not integrate or adapt to ours then our security forces wouldn't have to be constantly on guard and infringing the rights of the ordinary man/woman on the street with various governmental schemes to further intrude into the tatters of our civil liberties.
Then again perhaps this is exactly what the government wants, or rather those in power over us which sometimes includes the government and politicians and sometimes not. After all, what a godsend islamics were to them, clearly deranged, clearly dangerous and hell bent on aggravating the indigenous population into accepting ever greater security measures simply to keep them contained. It's certainly one explanation for the deliberate appeasement of islamics and muslims combined with permitting known world terrorists to live amongst us and recruit from the islamic community. Add to this the constant attempts to increase their power along with abuses against the indigenous population followed up by heavy handed legislation in answer to the cries of 'something must be done' means that sooner or later the islamics will drive us into accepting something extreme one day simply to rid us of their idiocy. Of such nightmares Nazi type final solutions are born and I have a sneaking suspicion that might be the end game plan. Someone rising up after an atrocity and herding us all into making the sort of diabolical mistake that still haunts Germany.
If I'm right then the islamics are playing right into the hands of those who wish to have control over every aspect of our lives, they'll pay the price as the majority willingly accept the cost of ridding us of them.
I hope I'm wrong, but even I can see the problem here and can't think of a civilised solution, not one that will work now.

The University of East Anglia infamous for its Climate research Unit and its lying researchers has another waste of space working for its Media Studies Dept. Dr Brett Mills head of the dept wrote in European Journal of Clinical Studies that Sir David Attenborough's various wild life programmes do not show enough of the prevalence of homosexuality in the animal kingdom. You really can't make this stuff up...

A study carried out by The University of East Anglia has shown that Attenborough's BBC programmes do not depict enough gay animals.
The study, led by Dr Brett Mills, claims that the programmes too often create narratives of animal life based around the traditional heterosexual family unit, even though those animals may be gay.
Dr Mills says, 'Heterosexuality is upheld as the norm in wildlife documentaries and the idea of the family it presents is one which equates the family with heterosexuality.
'The central role in documentary stories of pairing, mating and raising offspring commonly rests on assumptions of heterosexuality within the animal kingdom.
'This is despite a wealth of scientific evidence which demonstrates that many non-human species have complex and changeable forms of sexual activity, with heterosexuality only one of many possible options.'

Now it may well be that certain animals are queerer than a queer thing being queer, however it's all down to interpretation of the commentator and researcher, it's not as if we can ask the animals now is it?

 As you can see from Dr Mills' comments, he simply does not know what actually might be going on but is interpreting the data to suit his study rather than the observed behaviour of Sir David, it may well be that he's right, though I rather suspect that most people will go with Sir David and presume that Dr Mills has some form of axe to grind or is being funded to 'normalise' gay behaviour despite most of us not giving a damn and not wishing to have our noses rubbed into the constant litany of gay propaganda.
Media studies has a pretty bad rep when it comes to academic esteem and clearly Dr Mills is a leading light in its never ending search to plumb the depths of inanity by studying what people watch and reinterpreting it to fit the desires and agenda of the powers that be.
Then again, as with the CRU tape scandal, East Anglia university has a reputation for mercenary academic behaviour and following the money, churning out any old rubbish so long as the funding is there. As gay rights seems to be the big thing on the agenda with Cameron's government, it's not too surprising we're being hit with drivel like this.

Allah 0 Olympic Security 1

Well it's been an interesting day in my part of the woods, we had the Olympic torch running through Chatham this morning, no I didn't go, I'm not really that interested in supporting Great Britain other than the Armed Forces. Still it was only a matter of time before a loon from the followers of allah decided that someone carrying around a golden torch was there to be mugged.

A 17-year-old shouted 'Allahu Akbar' - Arabic for 'God is Great' - as he unsuccessfully tried to grab the Olympic torch during a stretch of the flame's route through Maidstone towards Redhill.
Broadcast live on the BBC, the youth lunged from the crowd to try to take the torch from the hands of its bearer Anna Skora, but was swiftly bundled away by officers.In one video posted to YouTube he can be seen waiting behind a car and as Ms Skora gets closer he lunges towards the torch.

No doubt this wasn't typical of Muslims, he was brainwashed by fanatics, anyway Western youths have tried to nick the torch on numerous occasions, you're all 'waaaacist!!!!' yadda yadda.
Still this is what happens when you allow a bunch of religious fanatics to set up in your country whose beliefs and culture are at odds with just about everything we believe in and then encourage them not to integrate as well as breed like mad and live off benefits. This isn't even one of the more dangerous ones, though give him a few years, others have already been arrested for attempted terrorism, carrying bombs, storing equipment for orthers to commit atrocities. yet we're still being told by the powers that be that a) they're welcome here and b) any criticism of said religion will be treat as a hate crime, including telling the truth about it.
I really don't know who they are trying to fool, it certainly isn't the Great British public, though it might just be themselves and possibly the socialist loons who believe any attack on this country's culture will eventually lead to a spontaneous revolution with them (obviously) in charge. That this will eventually lead to a set of circumstances looking a lot like the old communist states, Cuba or North Korea completely escapes them too.
Islam and socialism, the two great evils of the 21st century, yet both convinced they are the answer to everything.

One of the biters bit

I cannot help but sympathise with the parents of Darren Deslandes who wish to know if the man scum sucking excuse for a human being serving 37 years for the murder of their son is actually an illegal immigrant. They've been told (of course) that they don't have a right to know as his details are protected by the odious Human Rights Act and its data protection addendum, which for ordinary folk is fine, though I doubt that most people would think it ought to apply to prisoners save only in the abstract of not revealing personal details about their families. But a wry smile was raised at the antics of their MP, Croydon North MP Malcolm Wicks, a former Labour business minister, who was outraged at the Home Office and UKBA's decision not to tell the family whether the man was a foreign national  illegally resident or not.

A murder victim’s family who want to know if the man who shot their son is in Britain legally have been refused the information – to protect the killer’s privacy.
Wintworth and Lurline Deslandes are desperate to confirm suspicions that Saturday Hassan is a foreign national so they can ensure he is deported if he is released from jail.
But they have been told the killer – who shot their public schoolboy son Darren in the head after being thrown out of the family’s pub – must agree to details of his immigration status being handed over to their MP.
Last night Croydon North MP Malcolm Wicks said: ‘The logic of that answer is that I should write a nice letter saying, “Dear murderer, would you give me permission to find out if you are a foreign national, so I can make sure in the future you are deported”.’
The former Labour business minister added: ‘It’s ridiculous. The family of the murdered man had a suspicion for some reason he might have been a foreign national and it didn’t come out in court.
‘My experience as an MP is that if you find out some criminal is a foreign national, I do my best to pressure the Home Office to check the person out. That’s one reason an MP should be able to find out.’

David Wicks, seems to be rather forgetting just exactly which government and which party actually foisted that odious bit of legislation upon us in order to give their leaders wife a nice little earner.He's also forgetting an old maxim that "common sense has nothing to do with the law or how rules are implemented." You give a bureaucracy a set of rules to work from and you can be pretty much sure that there will be unintended consequences, the more complex the rules, the more likely it becomes. Common sense tells us that someone serving 3 life sentences for murder does not need his immigration status shielded, but common sense and simple decency have absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with the way rules are applied. There's a lot of Hoo Hah in the Mail about the fact that Immigration Minister Damian Green wont give out the details, but Green's hands are tied as well, if he told the family, He would be likely to be sued by Hassan and frankly giving scum like that any money from the public purse goes completely against the grain too.
As for David Wicks, well, this is the result of your party when in government deciding that an overriding HRA was necessary to supersede the rights of freeborn Englishmen and women. Had your party not meddled with our vague constitution we would have known Hassan's status and we could have thrown him and others out without recourse to their right to privacy and a family life.
That you cannot find out Hassan's details is entirely the fault of your miserable excuse for a political party.

FOREIGN criminals have been handed up to £25million of taxpayers’ cash to go home despite having no right to remain here, it emerged yesterday.
State “bribes” dished out under the Home Office’s voluntary return programme were given to nearly half of all overseas prisoners removed in the past 16 months alone at a cost of up to £12million, according to leaked documents.
The figure is about the same amount paid out in the first three years of the scheme and shows how common the controversial handouts are becoming.
Just one in three prisoners deported in 2009 left under the voluntary programme. Last year that figure was closer to one in two.
The UK Border Agency defended the payments of up to £1,500, saying they help avoid costly deportation battles, but critics yesterday hit out at the idea of paying money to convicts, who include rapists and muggers.

Costly deportation battles? I'm sorry but they shouldn't be here and shouldn't even get the option to fight deportation, even if they've settled and have families. And, what's to stop them simply coming back after they leave? It really is simple, we should not be using taxpayers money as a bribe to get anyone to leave, nor should we be allowing them any attempt to appeal deportation for being here illegally. If you're caught, you're gone, simple as that and all your worldly goods other than the clothes you stand in are sold off to pay your fare and fine. This should especially apply to criminals if you're here illegally and break the law then your feet should not touch the ground once you've served your sentence, you have no right to be here and secondly you've broken other laws as well!

Yes, it's that saying, "can't do the time, don't do the crime" save only that some pathetic scumbag thinks he might just have come up with a get out of jail card in the Human Rights Act.

A 33-year-old Nottingham burglar has appealed against his sentence, saying he needs to care for his five children.

Wayne Bishop, of Southchurch Drive, Clifton, was jailed for eight months in April at Nottingham Crown Court.

He said on five nights a week he was the sole carer for his five children, who are aged between five and 12.

His lawyer Ian Wise said the sentence violated Bishop's right to respect for family life under article eight of the Human Rights Convention.

"This case is of public importance and could have significant wider repercussions," Mr Wise told Mrs Justice Gloster.

Bishop, of Southchurch Drive, has joint custody of his five children, aged five to 12, with his ex-partner.

Mr Wise said article eight of the Human Rights Convention "enshrines the right to respect for family life and privacy".

Yes, because he has to look after his kids under joint custody he thinks he can use the HRA to prevent himself from being sent to prison for burglary. I wonder about his victims rights not to be robbed by this little shit? Will they be taken into account? Or do his rights trump theirs? I does seem that way more often than not doesn't it?
Yes I know I've ranted on at the HRA and its misuse and abuse in the past and probably will do in the future, however that's not to say I don't think people, even criminals have rights, just that some rights aren't actually a right at all. With rights there equally should come responsibilities, if you break the law, you lose certain rights including the right to roam free and commit further crimes and also the right to respect for family life and privacy. A complex system of equal rights for all simply will not work if the villain has exactly the same rights as the victim. The only rights a villain should have are the right to a fair trial, the right to appeal and the right to be housed and fed securely and safely at her majesties pleasure. That's all the basic rights they need, the law abiding rest of us get the full package, so I hope he loses this appeal, it's a damned disgrace his legal team even went for it!

A hospital administrator has made British legal history by becoming the first man to be jailed for stalking a woman by blog.

Stephen Andreassen, 38, compiled up to 35 website blogs in which he repeatedly insulted an ex-girlfriend after she ended their month-long relationship, Manchester Magistrates' Court heard.

Over 18 months Andreassen regularly updated his sites telling men to stay away from mature university student Rebecca Pattinson, 36, while bombarding her with Facebook messages, texts, phone calls and e-mails begging for her to take him back.

Ok, the guys obviously obsessed, but stalking by blog? I don't see how it can be done, it's not like the lady in question or other people were forced to read this guys blog and he's certainly no Guido with hundreds of thousands of readers. There are also a good few swearblogs around who do pick targets and go around being very insulting too, but you don't hear of them being closed down by the police either. I suspect this is probably just additional material to justify (rightly) imprisoning the guy for his campaign against Miss Pattinson.
Normally I'd just ignore Daily Mail sensationalism, but it does seem as if the judge and the police used his attempts at blogging as part of the evidence against him, though my own thoughts on the matter having blogged for about 2 years in this incarnation are that he would have struggled to get any hits on any of his 35 blogs. New blogs in particular don't normally tend to be high profile unless the blogger is high profile and blogging from a high profile site as witness Norman Tebbit. The way it's normally done for us lesser mortals is to go around commenting on others sites and gradually attract notice that way, assuming you want to be noticed of course, but it is satisfying in a way to get the odd comment, even if they don't agree with what you have to say. I blog because it helps release the occasional anger and frustration I feel at the direction this country is going in and it alleviates my frustration at not really being in a position to do anything about it (for which you should probably be thankful) Mostly like today I pass comment on something I read, sometimes about something I do and I don't really attract a lot of notice, even after 2 years, yes it's grown steadily, but I'd be deluding myself if its because of my talent, more I suspect my persistence in outlasting a good few better (in my opinion) bloggers than myself..
So, Andreassen was convicted of stalking, though mostly it was harassment by facebook and text which seem to be the usual medium of the stalker today, but he did use blogs as well to advertise his mental state, I suspect though he'll be unique, not as a stalker, but as someone who used blogs to stalk.

The government have said they are looking at getting rid of that unlikely badge of honour the ASBO. Labour of course want it kept, they seem to think it is/was a success, even claiming that crime rocketed under the Tories previous to 1997 and that somehow the ASBO fixed all this.

Shadow home secretary Alan Johnson said the orders, introduced in 1999, had been a "success".

He accused the coalition of a lack of commitment to tackling crime.

Last month Home Secretary Theresa May signalled Asbos could be scrapped in England and Wales, with police adopting a more "common sense" approach.

Ministry of Justice figures show 55% of the almost 17,000 Asbos issued between June 2000 and December 2008 were breached, leading to an immediate custodial sentence in more than half of the cases.

But Mr Johnson insisted the orders had worked, saying: "Everyone remembers that under the last Tory government crime rocketed and anti-social behaviour was classed as low-level nuisance and not taken seriously."

That quote seemed a little wrong to me, so I did a little checking and up popped the British Crime Statistics 1997 - 2002. as reported in the Independent.

HOMICIDE

What has Labour done? Home Office has brought tougher sentences for carrying illegal firearms. Crown Prosecution Service is cracking down on causing death by dangerous driving.
Position in 2002: There were 858 offences initially recorded as homicides in 2001-2002, compared with 849 last year. May be revised downward slightly but trend is upward.
Verdict: A problem. Home Office minister John Denham admitted the figures were "an area of real concern". Number of men fatally shot rose by 41 per cent last year.
VIOLENT CRIME

ROBBERY
Position in 1997: An area that was rising when Labour came to power. Muggings increased by 1 per cent, with 390,000 offences reported to the BCS between 1995 and 1997.

A Mixed batch, however the records appear to show in many areas that crime was actually falling in some areas under the Tories, particularly robbery, firearms and homicide and increased under Labour. I can't see any reason at all to keep ASBO's, they clearly don't work, it's probably Alan Johnson just trying to feed on peoples fears, but most folk I know, know ASBO's don't work either, they're just another layer to keep the crime figures massaged and looking down and give the appearance that something is being done, when it isn't.
ASBO's were a typical New Labour con, they were worthless, they were ignored by the real thugs and hooligans and were often handed out to people such as Edward Harris - A 76-year-old who suffers from severe arthritis threatened with "anti-social behaviour action" by Bournemouth council for allegedly slamming doors in his house (August 2009)

Go easy on the gritting?

Temperatures down to -20 in places, snow up to 10 to 20 inches in places a government who has been propagandising global warming climate change to local councils and so have started to panic as the winter bites in and they run out of grit for the roads. So instead of buying more grit or releasing the funding to buy more what do they do......

The government sought to avert a grit crisis yesterday by asking councils and highways chiefs to cut usage by at least a quarter, amid indications that Britain faces a serious road salt shortage by the end of next week.
According to one estimate in Whitehall, local authorities and the Highways Agency are getting through 60,000 tonnes of salt per day – double the usual rate for a serious cold snap. Daily salt production cannot keep up, running at 15,000 tonnes per day with a stockpile of 320,000 tonnes of salt left until supplies arrive from Spain on 22 January, and the US on 28 January.
Under that scenario, and with more heavy snow expected over the weekend, salt stocks would reach a critical state by Friday without a 25% cut in grit distribution.
The AA said that it had written to the Department for Transport and the Local Government Association two months ago to warn salt supplies could not cope with a repeat of last February's big freeze, when the response of local authorities was heavily criticised. "This cold snap is longer than forecast but we did have warnings last February," said Edmund King, AA president.

 Yes, they tell the councils to use a quarter less grit instead. So increasing the likelihood of people being trapped in, running out of food, increasing accidents on the roads a slowdown of deliveries to supermarkets and traders.
They were warned last year that there might be a problem, but followed the path of enviroloon dogma to its natural conclusion of pretending that winters wouldn't happen anymore and that snow would become a rarity all the while taxing us to the hilt to pay for economic mismanagement and lunatic power schemes such as windfarms.

They also plan to nab (without compensation) grit supplies from competent councils who stored enough (mostly Tory) to hand over to gullible spendthrift (though not on grit) councils who have run out (mostly Labour)

This is madness and there's bugger all we can do about it as the damage is already done, we wont have any more grit till the end of the month!
