FGM

Mp's are complaining that the practice of female Genital Mutilation (FGM) is a national scandal and they are right, though their finger pointing is also an attempt to shift the blame for their own failure to tackle the introduction of alien cultures to the UK in the name of 'rubbing the right's face' in diversity.
BBC.
The failure to tackle female genital mutilation (FGM) is a "national scandal" with as many as 170,000 victims in the UK, MPs have said.
Failures by ministers, police and other agencies have led to the "preventable mutilation of thousands of girls", the Home Affairs Committee said.
It blamed a "misplaced concern for cultural sensitivities" for inaction, and called for a national action plan.
The government said it was working to end "this terrible form of abuse".
The report called for greater anonymity for victims and protection orders to prevent girls from being taken abroad.
Funny how the BBC are only highlighting this now, guess it must be down to the fact that it's a Tory government that they can blame, they tend to ignore Labour governments wrecking the country.
It's also amusing to see the excuse of concern over 'cultural sensitivities' which essentially meant that certain cultures were above the law because they were seen as 'better' than the indigenous one. A classic case of one law for them another for us.
No, the state, via law enforcement, doctors and social services  failed these girls by making it very plain that if a young girl was found to be mutilated in such a way then the investigation would be thorough and those who aided and abetted the practice were either going to jail or being deported, though personally I would have opted for castration and deportation for any male involved and sterilisation and deportation for a woman. The practice is utterly vile and serves no medical purpose other than to prevent a mature woman's enjoyment of sex so she (in theory) won't stray. A certain religion of (not) peace likes this idea and it also has adherents in certain African tribes too who don't like the idea of a woman enjoying sex in case she finds that her husband is not terribly good at it and goes elsewhere. That sort of thinking is also at the root of stoning a woman for adultery but letting the male adulterer off with a warning.
And successive governments and their minions in the state allowed them to get away with it.
Now we have a problem where certain communities have been allowed to clump together to keep their own practices and have their own doctors covering for them.
Yes, it's a scandal, but there's a lot of blame to go around and it's not just the parents...

Not a mistake at all...

The BBC have admitted to making a terrible mistake over immigration back during the previous Labour administration. A 'mistake' I believe that many at the BBC and associated leftards believe was no mistake at all.
Express.
BBC political editor Nick Robinson yesterday admitted the Corporation was too slow to acknowledge problems and concerns about mass immigration under Labour.
He said that the BBC made a “terrible mistake” in the late 1990s and early 2000s by avoiding a proper debate amid fears it would “unleash” a wave of racism.
As a result, the BBC, along with many in Whitehall and Westminster, had been too slow to recognise and reflect concerns or address evidence of problems brought by large-scale immigration such as falling wages and community tensions.
Speaking ahead of a documentary called The Truth About Immigration that he is presenting tomorrow on BBC2, he said: “In public life, in politics and, I accept, historically at the BBC (we) didn’t have a warts-and-all...debate about immigration.”
Their solution at the time mirrored that of Gordon Brown was to label anyone who brought the subject up as a bigot, racist or right winger and essentially avoided the subject despite a growing awareness by the public that unfettered uncontrolled immigration was proving to be an utter disaster for communities, leading to factionalism, wage crisis and ghettoism along with the rise of islamist agitation.
No, this was no mistake, but deliberate BBC support of the then Labour government and an attempt to blacken the name of any group who pointed the finger at Labour and their new voting pets along with a tacit support of the EU from whom a tide of immigration was flowing and who left many skilled British workers struggling to find decent jobs paying a decent wage.
Still the BBC have come up with a solution, an absolute masterstroke if I don't say so myself...
A BBC spokesman said: “As we’ve previously made clear, this was a historical issue and we now believe our reporting is in the right place.”
Sorted... right?

Sanctuary for monsters

There are some people out there who are in love with the Human Rights Act, they are usually lawyers, criminals or the left hard of thinking. What they have for the lawyers is a nice little sinecure making them millions off the backs of people we usually don't want here (the criminals) whilst being cheered on by the left hard of thinking because in some twisted way they see it as some sort of blueprint to bring down western civilisation and usher in the inevitable revolution despite evidence in all cases that socialism simply doesn't work... bit like a lot of socialists.
Telegraph.
More than 800 people suspected of links to atrocities overseas have been identified since 2005 trying to secure shelter or settlement in this country.
Even though most have had their applications to stay rejected it is feared the majority are still here because human rights laws means it is unsafe to return them because they could face ill treatment.
Since January 2012 alone, immigration staff have made “adverse recommendations” in 115 cases of suspected war criminals, of which 99 were already in the UK.
Of those, just three have been deported.
The figure is in addition to the 702 suspected wear criminals identified either living in the UK or trying to enter the country between 2005 and 2012.
It has fuelled concerns that Britain is seen as a safe haven for those wanted for crimes against humanity.
Many of those hiding in the UK come from countries such as Afghanistan, Iran, Iraq, Libya, Rwanda, Serbia, Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe.
I often wonder just when some politician is going to have the balls to go with the undeniable fact that most people in the UK don't give a damn about what happens if we send these people back. If those states want to kill, torture or generally muck their exported criminal class about upon their return, then it's no business of ours. In fact automatic deportation within a fixed time limit for immigrants/asylum seekers ought to be in the statutes if they commit a crime in this country after being allowed to stay.
The UK should never be seen as a soft touch or a soft option for anyone wanting to come and live here. In contrast though once you've passed a rigorous medical and written examination then you ought to be free within certain limits to live your life in safety here, no one wants to kick out the legally here innocent, but those who are criminals feet shouldn't even touch the ground once discovered.
The Human Rights Act ought to be called the Criminals Charter as the only people who benefit from it are the criminals.

So which communities would these be then?

Apparently our counter terrorism people are concerned over silent communities, believing that they are increasing the threat of terrorism.
Telegraph.
Silence in communities over potential terrorists will lead to more atrocities in the UK, the outgoing counter-terrorism chief has warned.
Fanatics and “lone wolf” terrorists will be free to carry out more deadly attacks on Britain’s streets if the public do not come forward with more tip-offs, Metropolitan deputy assistant commissioner Stuart Osborne said.
He warned the attack threat is becoming smaller and less complex which means they are harder to detect but are still deadly. He said every major plot in recent years has involved innocent people who knew something about the plan but never tipped off the police. In a major foiled plot to attack the UK with eight suicide bombers, some sections of a community in Birmingham knew some members of the cell had gone to Pakistan for terror training but did not raise the alarm. Counter-terrorism police have also warned of a growing threat from far right extremism.
Aha! There we go, the terrorists went to Pakistan to train as suicide bombers. Yet completely fails to mention the fact that they were religiously fanatical of the worlds biggest threat to peace aka islam.
The mention of right wing or far right extremism is also thrown in there to try and tar groups like the EDL who are far more popular than the government would like us to believe. However as far right groups don't tend to be suicide bombers, fly off to terrorist training camps or behead people in the streets you have to wonder why they get a mention... other than the fact that the government live in fear of the growing reaction to their bringing in of an incompatible culture to the UK.
The interesting thing is that muslims are only mentioned when it comes to talk of a backlash against them. Whilst ignoring the events that led to the backlash as caused by muslims... indeed though the death of Lee Rigby is mentioned, there was no mention of who actually did it.
Essentially it's all the buzzwords of would, could and should with a remarkable dearth of actual facts to back up the fact that the silent communities are the muslim ones and the fact that groups like the EDL are feared because of this...
The far right aren't the problem, but try telling a government numpty that, they are determined to tar those who protest against extremism with those who actually do it.

Don't mention the M word

Well the paedo gang in Oxford finally got their just deserts, well as just as our namby pamby system gets. Though as ever only the names are a giveaway to their ethnic group and religion, the BBC simply not thinking it's worth mentioning that they are muslims of Pakistani origin.
No doubt the BBC doesn't think their religion or ethnic group has anything to do with the systematic abuse of young girls, as it hasn't in the past nor in any ongoing cases. Yet a quick check of the facts will tell you that 95% of the members of the grooming gangs are of Pakistani, Bangladeshi origin and the stated religion of all these men is muslim.
BBC.
Two pairs of brothers who were among seven men who abused girls from Oxford in a sadistic sex grooming ring have been jailed for life.
Mohammed Karrar, 38, and brother Bassam Karrar, 34, will serve a minimum of 20 years and 15 years respectively.
Brothers Akhtar Doghar, 32, and Anjum Doghar, 31, were each jailed for life with a minimum term of 17 years.
Their offences included child rape and trafficking between 2004 and 2012. A fifth man was also jailed for life.
Kamar Jamil, 27, who was found guilty of charges including rape and arranging child prostitution, was told he would serve at least 12 years.
I expect a raft of stories over the next week or so bigging up muslims and/or paedo trials of the Savile type to show that the people who live here are as bad as the accused.
Again and again those of us who have pointed out the growing problem in our midst have been reviled as racist, islamophobes, bigots, far right, fascists etc for simply pointing out the obvious. Organisations that have reacted to the problem have been vilified by the press, the broad left/lunatic left and politicians, which admittedly to their dismay have grown as the English at least refuse to believe the lies in our media and those of the liberal left any more.
What the press and the left believe to be extremists usually are anything but, mostly they are concerned citizens who have simply had enough of the inaction and occasional downright pandering to the islamic threat in our midst.
Yet the breaking point is fast approaching despite attempts to silence those opposed to islam. Every ban, every heavy handed action simply strengthens those opposed to this vile religion. Honesty would have been the best policy, as it is we got betrayal and deceit by those who are supposed to look out for our interests.
This will not end well for anyone...

Too little, too late

Some of the Lib Dems must be getting a tad desperate when looking towards the next general election. Down in the poll's becoming increasingly unpopular and having reneged on several electoral promises as part of the compromise they made to share power, they're discovering the price of that power.
It's very unusual for an elected party to remain in power indefinitely, the urge to meddle and form society along party doctrine usually ends up with them becoming increasingly unpopular as they move away from what ordinary people want into doctrinaire la la land. Some however see the writing on the wall and seek to distance themselves from the party by jumping onto the band wagon of popular causes...
Mail. (usual caveats)
Immigrant communities cannot adopt a ‘pick ’n’ mix approach’ to living in a liberal democracy, a Home Office minister will insist today.
Liberal Democrat Jeremy Browne will attack multicultural doctrines which have meant the state turning a blind eye to so-called ‘honour crimes’, forced marriage and female genital mutilation.
He will condemn ‘misplaced cultural sensitivities’ for a failure to tackle such issues in Britain.
Speaking at an event in the House of Lords, Mr Browne will warn that ‘thousands – perhaps hundreds of thousands’ of women and girls in this country are not enjoying the proper ‘benefits of living in our liberal society’.
He will add: ‘That is not because of some accident or oversight. It is because of a deliberate rejection of the emancipation revolution and the equal opportunities now afforded to women and girls.
‘This situation is wrong. It is unacceptable for the individual women and girls whose freedom and opportunities are stifled.
'And it is wrong for our society. There cannot be a pick’n’mix approach to living in a benign liberal country. The benefits must be universal, without exceptions or exemptions.
‘I do not believe that cultural relativism provides an excuse to opt out of our shared liberal social settlement. Everyone should enjoy the freedom to make their own choices, without the fear of social coercion.’
Well I've got news for you Mr Browne, the time for such words was back in 1997 when the previous government came in and opened the floodgates of immigration, introduced the Human Rights Act and inculated the divisive policy of multiculturalism and political correctness throughout the branches of the state to make damned sure that all cultures were to be deemed of equal value (save the mainstream one) and above reproach, investigation or condemnation from their critics. This is why Councils like Rotherham and their social services turned a blind eye to the grooming scandal of muslim males of Pakistani/Bangladeshi heritage using underage girls as sex toys for over a decade and in many cases blamed the girls for the exploitation because it was politically incorrect for them to actually blame the perpetrators for doing as their culture did. All cultures being equal and some being more equal than others. This is why we have 'shariah' gangs roaming London's East End beating up gays and telling any woman or drinker that they are in a 'muslim' area and such things are not allowed, because they've been allowed to think they can get away with it and be above criticism. It's why some poor woman who worked in Victoria's Secrets had acid thrown in her face by a veiled woman simply for working in a shop where underwear was sold and not wearing the full islamic marquee outfit as favoured by devotees of the religion of peace who believe the rest of us will either convert, pay protection money or die before they've finished with us.
All this (and more) could have been prevented by integration policies rather than multicultural ones where they were simply allowed to ignore the laws and standards of the country.
So sorry Mr Browne, you've left it too little too late to do anything about this save only in the most draconian of forms, the boil should have been lanced a decade ago, now it looks increasingly like amputation will be needed.

I don't think that word means what you think it does

The word is of course 'fair' and in part it means...
a. Having or exhibiting a disposition that is free of favouritism or bias; impartial: a fair mediator.
b. Just to all parties; equitable:
But not to politicians, to them it means favouring one group over another.
BBC.
Liberal Democrat leader Nick Clegg is to repeat his call for a tax on the wealthy when he rallies activists on their party conference's opening day.
He will urge lower taxes for workers doing a "proper shift" but higher rates for those "sitting on a fortune".
Lib Dem calls for a one-off tax on "unearned wealth" have been rejected by their Conservative coalition partners.
Lib Dem deputy leader Simon Hughes did not rule out a future coalition with the Labour party.
Yes a mansion tax would to an extent 'force' some people to sell their residences and downsize, some would also choose to sell up and move out taking their cash elsewhere. But that isn't fair by any definition of the word. Fair would mean a tax system where everyone paid pretty much the same percentage into the system and not a set of one off 'punitary' raids on those who have. It's how politicians ended up wrecking the pensions system we had in the UK and also started the banks off into paying bonuses.
If Clegg was calling for flat rate tax on everyone, cutting out the offshore tax avoidance route that the wealthy are using that would be fair, but he isn't, he's going down the politics of envy route that those on the left love  because they think (and in a lot of cases are right) that the people of the UK believe that the rich should be taken for all they've got simply because they are rich. They ignore the fact that a lot of the cash the rich has goes towards investment, development and simply paying for others to do they stuff they don't have too. They also ignore the fact that if they squeeze to hard the rich will up and leave, something the rest of us can't or won't do.
If we had a flat rate tax it would eliminate a lot of anger at bonuses, avoidance and various loopholes in a complex system, unfortunately simplifying the system is not in the politicians mantra, they'd rather target groups they see as easy and unloved.
Typical politicians of the left in other words...

Should know better

I cannot think of many worse things than losing a child or loved one in circumstances which might have been preventable, particularly by medical staff. I'd also expect the medical staff to at least have the common sense not to rub salt into a wound. But I'd be wrong...
Mail.
Hospital hail ‘good news’ in email blunder as father drops fight for justice after their bungle led to the death of his baby son
  • Trust's customer services employee Angela Peil wrote to colleague it was 'good news' that James Titcombe was stepping back from his inquiries
  • Second time grieving father has unearthed inappropriate messages regarding his quest to find out what happened when his son died
  • Baby Joshua Titcombe bled to death nine days after he was born at Furness General Hospital, Cumbria
  • Coroner accused hospital staff of a 'cover up' regarding Joshua's care
A grieving father discovered that senior hospital staff dealing with the investigation into his baby's death exchanged 'deeply offensive' emails celebrating the end of his quest for justice. James Titcombe wrote to tell staff at the University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust (UHMBT) that he was 'stepping back' from his personal investigations in the death of nine-day-old son Joshua in November 2008. He found that Angela Peil, who worked in customer services at the trust, greeted the news by emailing Angela Oxley, head of midwifery, writing: 'Good news regarding James T'.
Mrs Oxley replied: 'Has JT moved to Thailand? What is the good news?'
Mr Titcombe, whose wife Hoa is from Vietnam, unearthed the emails as part of a Freedom of Information request.
It just beggars belief that these people are in charge of care over us and can be so callous. A man grieving over the loss of a child really doesn't need to find out that those potentially responsible for the death are treating his withdrawal from enquiries as 'good news'
It also is a shining example of where the Freedom of Information Act (something the government regards as a grave inconvenience and wants to be rid of) is of benefit to the public and can be used to unearth the real motives of those involved in decision-making.
There's the usual mealy mouthed apology about standards of course along with lessons will be learned. But nothing will bring back the child, nor ease the anguish of Mr. Titcombe that somehow or other a conspiracy of neglect, blame shifting and silence surrounding the death of his son was in place and those involved saw his potential withdrawal as good news on a par with him emigrating to Thailand.

Not my flag, not my country #2

I do wish the government would give up on its ideas to try and make me (and the rest of the UK) something that a majority of us think we aren't. Yes I'm talking about 'Britishness' something I believe only applies to recent immigrants and deluded politicians (along with occasional royalists)
Mail.
The Union Jack is to be displayed on driving licences under Government plans to 'reinforce a sense of Britishness'.
Currently, plastic photocard UK licences bear the European Union flag but no British national symbol.
But Downing Street and the Department for Transport say they will use the introduction of new licences in three years' time to change the design to include the British flag and possibly also the Royal coat of arms.
OK, back to the QM straw poll, when the jubilee was being celebrated there were two union flags being flown from houses on my estates I'm not sure how many cars had them, but it was in the single figures, if not none at all. During Euro 2012, there are currently seven Cross of St George flags flying on houses and fifteen cars (at least) have England flags fluttering above them and that doesn't include my own England fluffy dice either.
I'm not British, I refuse to be British other than as a description as to coming from the British Isles, it's not my nationality it's not my country. It's a made up catch all term used to describe the ruling class of the country, it had some meaning from before 1997, though the mask started to slip a little in Euro 1996 when at least we had one parliament to govern us. Now the Scots and Welsh (along with the Northern Irish)  have their own parliaments and we're ruled by a British parliament including Scot's and Welsh MP's who make decisions with regard to the whole of Britain and the UK, not just the bit of it called England. Nor do they usually even mention England, it's always 'this country' or 'our country' as if they are ashamed of England or the word England, yet when they speak of Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland they are always specific.
The people judging by my straw poll are as ever one step ahead of the political classes (at least) and this move will not help unite us, if anything it simply alienates the indigenous people of the UK even more.

Compare and contrast (again)

Emma West will be known to quite a lot of you, she's the lady on a Croydon tram who was filmed for youtube for a so called hate rant aimed at various immigrants. It's noticeable to anyone who has viewed the original video that it appears to be selectively edited having no real beginning and a chunk missing from the middle. Emma was arrested, had her child removed by social services and nearly spent Christmas in prison as she was remanded in custody, such was the danger to the public she apparently represented. Yet oddly enough she never called for violence against anyone in the entire clip.
BBC.
A woman has pleaded not guilty over an alleged racist rant on a tram in south London, which has been seen online 11 million times.
Emma West, 34, of New Addington, south London, appeared at Croydon Crown Court charged with two counts of racially-aggravated public order offences, one with intent to cause fear.
She was arrested in November after footage, filmed on a Croydon-to-Wimbledon tram, was posted on YouTube.
Emma's situation along with the farcical conviction of the attackers of Rhea Page finally highlighted to many of the UK public the two tier legal system in place throughout the country where someone with a white skin would be treated far more harshly than any other skin tone or religious outlook other than Christianity.
Though it would appear that there are other protected species too...
Birmingham Mail.
A LABOUR councillor has sparked outrage after she backed calls for the IRA to bomb the Conservative party conference which is being held in Birmingham this year.
The Labour party suspended Sunderland city councillor Florence Anderson after she "liked" on Facebook an appeal for terrorists to blow up the Conservative conference in Birmingham in October.
Her behaviour was branded "disgraceful" by party bosses, after the former deputy leader of the council "liked" the comment: "We are appealing to the IRA to find it in their hearts to bomb the next Tory conference" on the Facebook group wall.
A Labour spokesman said: "These comments are disgraceful.
"Florence Anderson has been suspended from the Labour Party with immediate effect in light of this information."
In 2010 Cllr Anderson, who is a member of the Facebook Group "Margaret Thatcher doesn’t have to be dead before we give her a funeral", wrote on Facebook she hopes Lady Thatcher "burns in Hell".
At the time she insisted: "I stand by what I said."
Before anyone gets on their high horse about the fact that she might have only been joking I'd remind you of just how seriously the police have taken facebook statements in the past when they arrested 370 EDL supporters on Remembrance Day because some idiot put on his facebook page that they were going to attack the occupy London site (they weren't, they had no intentions of anything of the sort)
The most that has happened so far is that this woman has simply been suspended despite calling for the murder of not just the Tories but anyone else who happens to work at the conference venue.
Of course socialists think they are the crème de la crème when it comes to political thinking and philosophy though the fact tend to show then rather as a bunch of violently inclined political pygmies pursuing the politics of envy. So they think that when one of their own transgresses that all should be forgiven and the matter hushed up, though woe betide the Emma West's of this country who speak their mind.

Musings of a Durotrigan has a good post on Councillor Anderson, well worth a read too and a different take on her attitudes.
Prodicus also highlights the delightful attitudes of a Union rep on Margaret Thatcher being murdered

An unlikely political prisoner

Tram woman Emma West is probably the most unlikely political prisoner in the UK, now world famous for her so called racist rant on a Croydon tram (11 million views so far) she has apparently been locked away on remand for her own protection after her magistrates appearance on Tuesday, in stark contrast to the Gravesend couple accused of child cruelty and abuse who had vigilante's outside their house and were oddly granted bail.

Eye witness account.
Up date on Emma West’s predicament, eye witness account, first hand from me , Frank.
Emma was advised by her council today to plead not guilty, much to the relief of the 30 odd people who had sat through the courts proceedings since 10 am this morning. This “racist woman” has elected to be tried in front of a jury, much to the frustration of the prosecution.
As a spiteful retaliation to her defiance, the crown opposed her bail, on the grounds that she has received death threats on fb. and twitter, so must remain in protective custody until her case comes up in the crown court in one weeks time. The prosecution also stated that the police were informed that Emma had received death threats on her mobile and her landline. Her family deny this.
Her defence argued that, even if her address was compromised by the media, her family, several of whom were present, could ensure her safety at any one of their homes.
The ethnic woman representing the crown insisted that fb. and twitter were a reliable source of evidence, and to the astonishment of the public witnesses, this was accepted as fact. Despite the magistrate in the middle, patronisingly informing the defence council that he was familiar with both media.
The defence then went on to say that even in the event that she was found guilty in the crown court, the maximum she could receive is a fine and a community service order, and that, after the week she has already spent in prison, she has already suffered more than her alleged crime prescribes.
The head honcho on the bench was not English, by his accent he was obviously north of the border, a Calvinist perhaps.
His annoyance at Emmas’ refusal to accept his judgement was ,,,, well you could almost taste it.
The magistrates then went out for a theatrical amount of time, and came back with the decision that was horribly predictable by now, That she be refused bail and remain in custody until her crown court appearance, for her own protection.
The press, her family, and many other interested parties arrived early to be sure to get admission to those proceedings today. We sat patiently through several cases, waiting for Emma to appear, including one of a white man in his 20s, early 30s, who was arrested out-side a primary school while he was masturbating. He was released on bail, with an exclusion order to stay 50yards from the school in Carshalton, and not to enter Short Lane, where the school is. I've not google earth it yet, but suspect that Short Lane is about 50 yards long. The magistrates were seemingly unaware of how many schools there are in the Croydon area.
So if I don’t sound like I’m more phukt off than anything I’ve ever been phukt off about before, then I’m proud of my self control.
There’s so much more to this, I trust you will be able to see it and point it out to me. I’m still partially blinded by a red mist.
The fiasco continues. I'll stay on the case. IT wasn't just to punish her, you can take this personally, it was done to cow the rest of us. Another own goal from the libtards. Every one who was there to witness that travesty just got out of their seats and walked out in contempt of those gutless dhimmis. None of that "The court will retire. All stand!" bollocks, we just walked out in disgust and left the class monitors sitting at the bench. Spontaneously.
I'm told on good authority that what started the rant was one of the other passengers spitting on the floor at her feet, there also appears to be a chunk missing from the middle of the video too, though we'll have to wait until the trial perhaps to find out what actually happened assuming the case isn't simply dismissed.
What the Crown Court will have to do is judge Emma's intent and that is the critical matter here, watching the video a few times it seems to me that for all the language, she never actually specifically targeted any one person and what the jury will have to decide is the intent of what Emma said and was it specifically racist. It is the intent that has to be judged. It may be that the jury will simply find her not guilty of intent, the full circumstances are still not known, but whatever happens a gross miscarriage of justice by the minions of the state is already in action, Emma will be denied a Christmas with her family all for a "crime" that would normally only have gotten a small putative fine under normal circumstances at worst and probably a simple ban from travelling by tram.
As it is Emma is now as far as I can see a political prisoner and this whole case has taken on a life of its own, get the popcorn in for January 3rd and lets see just what British justice is made of.

If you wish, you can send a Christmas card and personal support gift direct to Political Prisoner and English mother:

Suppression

We all know the MSM and the leftist National Union of Journalists suppress certain articles or alters them for the publics perception to fall generally in line with left = good, right = bad. Which is why when you know how to read media "code" you know that to tag right wing onto anything is to imply racism, fascism, or just plain evil in a way that to tag anything as left wing does not impute the amorality, greed, envy, corruption, evil and plain stupidity that that particular doctrine promotes as a matter of course. Which isn't to say that all left wingers are evil, simply that those who rise to the heights in the "left" (basically those on the extreme left as normal people really can't afford the time to do so having real lives) are generally corrupt mendacious control freaks and pretty much the mirror image of the authoritarian "right" those who would seek to control the general mass of humanity for their own selfish ends.
Still it's always interesting when someone in the media blurts out a home truth as opposed to the official line, which is what former Daily Star journalist Richard Peppitt did during the Leveson enquiry into press standards and ethics, which is currently being held in the High Court in London. ...

Seems the Daily Star deliberately suppressed information by which support for the EDL could be gauged with over 2,000 calls to an online survey (they usually only get 10) and 99% in favour of the EDL's (unstated) policies and this was deliberately suppressed by the MSM and the NUJ
As far as I'm aware other than the recent Demos survey (downloadable here), there has never really been any attempt to try and estimate just what level of public support an organisation like the EDL might have or just who or what their membership such as it is contains, even the Daily Stars heavily edited response to the poll was attacked from every angle.
No, I'm not suggesting that the EDL has 99% public support, but and it's a big but, there seems to be an active collusion in the MSM and government to cover up what level of support it has, along with increasing vilification in the press over its activities as well as attacks by the police when they weren't doing anything unlawful along with attempts to ruin its leaders business and wreck his and his families life.
The EDL are only one of a number of such groups who seem to have their activities misrepresented in the MSM by the NUJ and their infamous and insidious "guidelines" in which they seek to suppress the truth and the feelings of the general public to the previous governments attempts to rub the rights face in multiculturalism.

Rip(a)e for scrapping

Ripa, the Regulatory Investigatory Powers Act, brought in by Labour ostensibly to keep an eye on terrorists, but so loosely written that local councils found it a handy tool to spy on what people were putting into its bins comes in for criticism again.
Mail.
The astonishing extent of Britain’s surveillance society was revealed for the first time yesterday.
Three million snooping operations have been carried out over the past decade under controversial anti-terror laws.
They include tens of thousands of undercover missions by councils and other state bodies which are not responsible for law enforcement.
Cases include a family who were spied on to check they were not cheating on school catchment area rules and so-called ‘bin criminals’.
The campaign group Justice is demanding the hugely controversial Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act – under which all the operations were authorised – be scrapped altogether.
Since the Act was passed, there have been:
More than 20,000 warrants for the interception of phone calls, emails and internet use;
At least 2.7million requests for communication data, including phone bills and location information;
More than 4,000 authorisations for intrusive surveillance, such as planting a bug in a person’s house;
At least 186,133 authorisations for directed (covert) surveillance by law enforcement agencies;
61,317 directed surveillance operations by other public bodies, including councils;
43,391 authorisations for ‘covert human intelligence sources’.
In total, the report says there have been around three million decisions taken by state bodies under RIPA, not including authorisations given to the security and intelligence services.
Yet fewer than 5,000 of these – just 0.16 per cent – were approved by judges.

There are times when you can honestly believe that someone took George Orwell's novel 1984 as a template for the future of the UK. Even the language is twisted in the same way as newspeak where a new Protections of freedoms Bill means anything of the sort. The problem has always been that people in authority will use the tools available to that authority in ways the lawmakers never envisaged. This with the coupling of the EU Code Napoleon (where a law is required for permission) into various areas of UK justice (where if there isn't a law against it, it's legal) has put the UK public under ever more scrutiny even for mundane things than at any time in our history.
The most damning thing of all though is the fact that only 5 thousand of the 3 million undercover investigations ever came before a judge and worst of all, none of the 3 million were authorisations given to the security and intelligence services.
We are snooped on, spied upon and told constantly that it's for our own safety, yet the system itself is frequently used to target those whom the state see as inconvenient, people such as the leader of the EDL.

He's had his business destroyed, investigated by the taxman, been held under bail for over 18 months, had an attempted 10 year ASBO thrown at him, his wife arrested, constantly followed by special branch officers. In the end, he was given a 12 month suspended prison sentence, a 150 hour community order, and must pay £200 costs after being found guilty of assault, despite the fact that the guy who was aid to have been assaulted refused to press charges or appear as a witness for the prosecution.
Indeed as for the ASBO, the judge Peter Ward refused the application and said he did not believe it would have been submitted but for the defendant's links with the EDL.
Everywhere you go people who have stuck their heads above the parapet to question the states judgement or even request something the state is unwilling to give or simply doesn't believe them are targeted and lives investigated and occasionally destroyed.
We need to temove RIPA, we need to go back to the days of UK justice based upon ancient traditions and those who abused (in a very real sense) the provisions of RIPA should be sacked and/or imprisoned for their authoritarian abuse.
It's time to start trimming back the state, both financially, in size and in powers. Our freedom depends on the state having as little power over our lives as possible!

No, this wont work either

Apparently from Saturday the price of some beers will be up to 50p cheaper if they have only 2.8% abv (alcohol by volume) and apart from wondering what's the point of drinking something that will be flushed out of your system by numerous trips to the loo before you can get any sort of effect I do think that the wishful thinking going on in the paper that this will invigorate the pub trade rather misses the elephant in the room.
Mail.
Cash strapped drinkers and people looking for a low alcohol beer will have more choice from this weekend as new ranges of tax-busting beers are introduced.
From Saturday, a new rule will mean that beers with less than 2.8 per cent alcohol by volume will be taxed less, leading to possible savings of 50p for some drinks.
With local pubs closing at an alarming rate and government promoting responsible drinking, beer lobby groups have welcomed the new tax break.
Dubbed the 'people's pints', many brewers have already started selling lager and ale with lower alcohol contents but more are likely to follow suit.
Carlsberg UK has already announced that it will reduce the strength of it's Skol lager from 3 per cent to 2.8 per cent to take advantage of the new tax break.
The Campaign for Real Ale says it hopes the lower price and alcohol content will provide a lifeline for thousands of pubs threatened with closure.
God alone knows why Camra thinks this will help, the stuff mentioned is hardly real ale after all and Carlsberg Skol barely escapes classification as drain cleaner in my book of beers to avoid at all costs.
The elephant in the room of course is the smoking ban whereby the state took it upon itself to tell people what they could and couldn't do with a legal pastime on their own property, rather than leave it down to personal choice. That decision is the one which sounded the death knell for so many pubs, not expensive beer, but the fact that many of their customers (and non smoking friends) decided they no longer felt welcome in the pubs and decided to just meet and drink at home instead.
Try getting a politician to admit this though and it's like trying to get blood out of a stone, a very few have, but by and large they seem to live on a different planet to the rest of us and cannot see the cause and effect factor at work.
If they'd just left us alone and not tried to legislate away our freedoms, then perhaps the pub trade (and the country) wouldn't be in the mess that it is.

I wonder if they'd try this in another religions café

I'm not a Christian, I used to be and I still hold to the values in inculated in me by the Sunday Schools and Scout troops along with confirmation classes. It taught me tolerance (though I know a good few intolerant Christians) and a lot of good social values such as treating others as I'd wish to be treated myself, a good human (and libertarian) value if ever there was one.
However the number of attacks on Christianity has increased in the UK over the last few years as various pressure groups who have values that Christianity disapproves of have gone on the offensive to make Christians lives just that bit more uncomfortable than necessary.
The Christian Institute.
Police in Lancashire have told the owner of a Christian café to stop displaying Bible texts on a video screen, because it breaches public order laws.
Officers attended the Salt & Light Coffee House on Layton Road, Blackpool, on Monday 19 September, following a complaint about “insulting” and “homophobic” material.

The café’s owner, Mr Jamie Murray, says the officers did not specify which Bible texts had caused the offence.
That's right, plod have decided that it's illegal for Christians in a Christian café to display Bible verses. I can only imagine that it's one of the militant gay factions or idiot socialist types trying to be clever and I have grave doubts as to whether they'd even dare try this in a Muslim run café. After consulting his solicitor the owner has put the display back, but he should not have even been warned in the first place.
The problem is as usual interpretation of badly written law in Section 5 of the Public order Act 1986...

"(1) A person is guilty of an offence if he:
(a) uses threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour, or disorderly behaviour, or
(b) displays any writing, sign or other visible representation which is threatening, abusive or insulting,
within the hearing or sight of a person likely to be caused harassment, alarm or distress thereby."
This offence has the following statutory defences:
(a) The defendant had no reason to believe that there was any person within hearing or sight who was likely to be alarmed or distressed by his action.
(b) The defendant was in a dwelling and had no reason to believe that his behaviour would be seen or heard by any person outside any dwelling.
(c) The conduct was reasonable.
Seems some pressure groups are using the insulting words clause to cut down on free speech no doubt congratulating themselves on doing so but not realising the ramifications that an attack on specific free speech is an attack on all free speech. Part of the problem is that people have forgotten that there is no right "not to be offended" and yes the Old Testament and the New Testament are fairly clear on the fact that the Christian God does not like the homosexual act, however, that doesn't stop homosexuals from being Christians and the specifics as it is interpreted these days is that the sin can be hated, but not the sinner (not all Christians do I know). This seems to apply to most main religions, but only Christians seem to be attacked for it, I doubt the group or person who complained would like living in an Islamic country with their attitudes towards gays.
Parliament is going to debate removing the "insulting" clause from the Act, they also suggest that the police are better trained, either would be welcome, though any restrictions on free speech should be removed from the statute books save only for slander and libel, anything else just gives the state and their minions far too much power.

Pandering

This is what multiculturalism ends up as.
This is what diversity will get you.
This is what happens when you go soft on minorities because of the above.
This is what lowering standards to get minorities into positions of authority (aka tokenism) brings you.
This is what failure to assure excellence in our education system has brought us too.
This is the price we now have to pay for the failure of the political classes, socialists and the MSM to listen to the concerns of the ordinary people of England.
Our cities burn, minorities riot, the followers of a foreign and malignant fascistic political system dressed in the trappings of a religion have been allowed to settle in numbers in some of our cities and demand their own laws. The indigenous population have been derided by politicians as being bigoted to even question it. When they marched in protest they were called Nazi's, scum, vermin, knuckle draggers, right wing and racist, yet it was not they who rioted.
And when the dust settles, the cover up will begin, those who burned our cities and attacked our police and ordinary folk will claim victim status yet again, it's already happening on the BBC as excuse after excuse is trotted out about cuts and police brutality by so called community leaders. The usual soundbite fools like Ken Livingstone are being dragged out too to try and put a political slant on the mindless looting by trying to blame the current government for a mess of the previous governments making.
There have even been attempts by some on the left to draw parallels with violence exhibited at EDL protests in an effort to divert blame or ameliorate the situation, save only the EDL have never burnt buses, set fire to buildings, looted shops, attacked homeowners and robbed them. These were the same people who hunted desperately for any kind of link between Anders Brievik and the EDL even to the extent of inventing a few.
This is what happens when those in power and their accomplices simply don't listen to ordinary people.

Discrimination?

Kids congregate in groups, it's a social thing and most of the time it's quite harmless, though in some cases trouble happens, particularly when either showing off or occasionally because they know they are so well protected by the law that there's damn all anyone can do about it.
BBC.
A Kent McDonald's has been criticised for installing a device aimed at deterring groups of young people from congregating outside.
The high pitched sound from the Mosquito can usually only be heard by those under the age of 25.
The children's charity Kidscape said: "We can't have young people treated like pests or animals."
Whilst this is true, we can't have kids treated like animals, unless of course they are behaving like animals.
McDonald's said the device was fitted at its Week Street premises, Maidstone, following feedback from customers.
In 2008 the Children's Commissioner for England called for a ban on the devices, describing them as "degrading and discriminatory".
For "degrading and discriminatory" read effective and it looks like McDonald's have a reasonable reason for using the device as its customers have requested they do something about the kids congregating around the outlet.
In a statement, McDonald's said: "The device is operated by the restaurant management only as a last resort if groups fail to move on after being asked to do so by the duty manager.
"The device is fitted with a timer to switch off automatically after a set period of time."
Seems fair enough to me, it will only be used if nuisance makers won't move on and then it switches itself off automatically.
But Peter Bradley, deputy director of Kidscape, said: "We need to be careful about young people congregating and how that can be assumed to be a problem or to cause trouble. Let's not just make assumptions."
See above, it will only be used if there's a problem.
The Kent Green Party claimed the Mosquito discriminates against young people.
The party's chairman, Stuart Jeffrey, said: "If this was a device for keeping black people, women or the elderly away, McDonald's would rightly be prosecuted, so why should society tolerate discrimination against young people?"
Usual idiot response from the left (Yes the Greens aren't called watermelons for nothing) they aren't discriminating against kids, they are discriminating against troublemakers and whilst it's unfortunate that innocent kids will probably have to move on as well, at least the store is doing something to deal with a problem.
The solution is obviously simple, though it might take some kids a while to get it, don't cause problems outside McDonald's and you won't be moved on.
