Nothing changes

Rochdale, the town where children of all genders were at risk because institutional blindness, corruption and fear of racism or the authorities had child abuse happening on almost an industrial scale.
Mail.
In May 2012, nine men were jailed for horrific abuse committed against teenage girls in the town. It made headlines all round the world.
When the father of one of the victims called me to tell me how his daughter’s cries for help had been ignored by the authorities I started to make my own enquiries. I spoke to the director of children’s services, Cheryl Eastwood, and was staggered by her attitude. She implied that young girls who were being systematically raped were making lifestyle choices and said that this kind of abuse was ‘a new phenomenon’ on which they [social services] hadn’t received guidance. You don’t need guidance from central government to know that when someone is reporting being raped it’s seriously wrong, I told her.
A few weeks earlier, a police officer had told me fellow officers had suggested the victims on council estates should have been drowned at birth. It also emerged that when one of the girls reported her abuse to a police officer, the officer yawned.
The cover-up of abuse by Cyril Smith (former Rochdale MP), the failed police investigations into his crimes, had ensured the public cry of outrage that needed to be heard was silenced.
For Smith’s young victims it was because they were bad boys from troublesome backgrounds who needed disciplining.
For the young girls who were victims of grooming gangs it was because they were bad girls from troublesome backgrounds who were making lifestyle choices.
This is what happens when the people in power decide that they know best, this is what happens when dogma trumps decency. When protecting the perpetrators because of their position or religion or colour of their skin became far more important than protecting the victims of their abuse.
Yet not one single prosecution will be brought against the council, its social services department, the Liberal Democrat Party who connived with the police to cover up Smith's crimes, the police or anyone else connected to the wholesale abuse who ignored it or actually hid it deliberately because to them the victims were lesser breeds and deserved (somehow) what was happening to them.
Even today Rochdale and those in power there are in denial of what happened, there has been no apologies and there are still ongoing attempts to sweep things under the carpet. Those who ignored the victims were even allowed to leave taking golden handshakes with them and are still at work elsewhere in the same business.
These people ruined kids lives as much as their abusers did, yet they've gotten away scot free, the next scandal comes along and they hope we forget. The corruption goes all the way to the top and won't stop until we hang them all.

So how temporary is temporary?

I've worked on several jobs that have occasionally required a temporary solution simply to get a machine working. The onus has always been to get a permanent repair/solution in place as soon as possible. That said, the number of temporary solutions that have simply had to stay in place until it breaks again would probably be a list far longer than my arm. The main problem was as ever that some other breakdown always took precedent and so many jobs became fire fighting exercises and planned maintenance took a back seat as cost benefits and bean counters reduced maintenance departments due to the lack of problems only to realise after a few months why there were so few problems...
BBC.
Some of the "most vulnerable" Syrian refugees will be temporarily resettled in the UK, Deputy PM Nick Clegg says.
He said girls and women who had been victims of or were at risk of sexual violence, torture victims, and elderly and disabled people would get priority.
This meant the coalition was ensuring Britain's "long and proud tradition of providing refuge" lived on, he said.
The government expects the number of refugees accepted to be in the hundreds but has not set a specific target.
The UK's resettlement programme is to be separate from the ongoing UN High Commissioner for Refugees scheme which has seen Germany commit to admitting 10,000 Syrian refugees and France take 500.
The BBC understands the refugees will be given temporary visas allowing them to stay for at least three years.
I'm sure some out there are thinking great, more useless mouths to feed, but according to various treaties the UK is obliged to take in some refugees. It could be argued that we should never have signed any such thing, but that's the state of play.
My problem stems from the temporary nature if the visas, as I rather expect in three years time most will be allowed permanent residency and won't be turfed out as the Human Rights Act will be used to prevent this (Watch this space)
Despite the bleatings of Clegg and his Lib Dems as well as the Labour Party, I feel absolutely no moral responsibility for the victims of the Syrian civil war, but unfortunately if Labour and the Lib Dems pushed it, they possibly could (and would) open the floodgates, after all, Labour have form for uncontrolled access to the UK.
Hopefully this will be the end of it, but I have my doubts, if the leftards can't get us fighting for the revolting barbarians in Syria, they'll settle for us taking in their useless mouths.

Parental responsibility

The Mail is off on another of its paedogeddon rants this morning with a warning about Argos and Tesco selling pad style computers to anyone with the cash to buy one.
Mail. (usual caveats)
Newly-released tablet computers from Tesco and Argos could put children at risk of stumbling across porn because they do not come fitted with filters, an expert warned last night.
Tesco has brought out a cheap device called a Hudl, while Argos has introduced MyTablet which is aimed specifically at ‘tweenies’ aged from eight to 13.
Both are expected to be bought by hundreds of thousands of parents for their children at Christmas.
Amazingly enough the Mail doesn't appear to consider that the tablets actually do come with filters, they just need to be switched on. Nor do they appear to believe that it's the job of a parent to monitor what their kids get up to online. The Mail also appear to have missed a massive target in that Apple products don't have preset filters either, but then again I suspect that the Mail is simply obsessed with scare stories as kids rarely stumble upon porn, they actively go looking for it...
Actually a quick check soon tells you that few if any computers are sold with preset filters, the manufacturers seem to believe that if you want to filter something then that's the job of the person who buys it. After all, why make a product that is going to irritate an adult, they tend to be the ones buying the things?
What it boils down to is that paranoid parents will set up the things to filter stuff they don't want their kids seeing (the kids will soon figure out ways around this if so inclined) and those who don't will keep a check on what their kids are up too by occasionally glancing over their shoulders. For those who do neither, well caveat emptor...
If people (or kids) want to look at porn, they'll find a way, filters or not, all parents can do is protect their kids and allow them to be kids for as long as possible. Yet it has to be pointed out that ignorance is not bliss either, education and guidance from good parenting is the key, trying to stop it by blocking it never works because sooner or later they will see it or figure out ways to see it. If they have good guidelines they'll usually end up good people, if not, then a filter won't help.

But that's what they want? Isn't it?

The efforts of the government to rake in cash to fund their various junkets and scams grows apace. New laws, new penalties, new tariffs etc. all going to line their pockets at various stages without thought to the future of the country, simply the future of those raking in the cash.
Telegraph.
Britain's manufacturing revival is being hampered by a raft of UK-specific green taxes, steel giant Tata has said, as it called for the Government to do more to create a "level playing field" with the rest of Europe.
Vince Cable, the Business Secretary, said on Friday that while abandoning green policies would be "short-sighted and foolish", protecting energy-intensive industries was a priority. "My particular concern is to make sure that the chemical and steel industries for example are not disadvantaged by very high energy prices, and we introduce schemes to make sure they're compensated and properly offset," he told BBC Radio 4.
But Tata, which employs 18,500 people in the UK, warned that an array of green levies, including the so-called carbon price floor - charged on fossil fuels used in power generation - was putting the company at a competitive disadvantage.
The second part of a £250m Government compensation package to protect companies from the unilateral tax, introduced last April, is currently awaiting approval from Brussels.
"While we welcome the Government's compensation package ... there are still tens of millions of pounds of other UK only green taxes hitting us today," a spokesman said.
The nub of the problem is that the lunatic politicians, few who have ever run a business themselves or even had a real job in the real world don't understand how a business needs as much cashflow around it rather than having it siphoned off for something that everyone save a few enviroloons knows is an utter scam for a failed theory.
So not only did the UK government hit companies like Tata with the EU scam, they also threw in a few unilateral ones of their own to fill their coffers. Yet it's noticeable that India and China have no problems with building high carbon power plants and steel plants and it's only the moronic politicians in the UK who continue to operate their enriching scams.
I suspect it's a case of making hay whilst the sun shines for them, at least until sommething new comes along to fleece the public.

This is why we can't allow them to stay...

Pride and honour are odd things and can cause people to do strange things in order to fit in to their roots whilst trying their best to fit in with everyone else. It becomes worse when peer, family, tribal and religious pressures are put in place to enforce compliance within a social group and can lead to tragedy when your 'family' discovers your 'real' lifestyle. Well it can if your family are Muslims...
Express.
A WOMAN leapt 80ft to her death after a Facebook stalker exposed her westernised lifestyle to her strict Muslim parents, an inquest heard yesterday.
Rema Begum, 29, fell from the top of Sir Terence Conran’s restaurant Coq D’Argent in front of hundreds of commuters outside Bank Tube station in London on September 5.
After taking a sip of wine, she put down her glass and plunged eight storeys. She died instantly of multiple injuries. There was no evidence she was drunk.
Miss Begum had suffered depression after losing her job as a British Library manager, and also believed she would be punished for an impure life and not be allowed into paradise.
A friend, Avril Atkins, said she shut down her Facebook page after someone sent hate mail to her and information about her to her family.
The thing is, to most people what she was doing was nothing to be ashamed of, nor a matter of taking your life over. However we aren't dealing with ordinary people here but with Muslims who have an archaic honour code in which women very definitely come second and whom 'shame' and family pressure to conform can twist the joy out of life very easily, along with the risk that her family might just decide to end her life in a (utter lack of) honour killing.
Yet our politicians, political classes, the intellectual left and the moronic left have encouraged these people to live amongst us and not to integrate. Telling them that a culture based on the ravings of a 7th century paedophilic sociopath is equal to the western values that created one of the greatest civilisations to span the Earth. No, I'm not saying things are perfect and great for all of us, but until our lunatic politicians and social engineering political classes invited in those who hate us and are not willing to change that hatred we had been to the moon, conquered diseases, advanced the quality of ordinary peoples lives to a stage undreamed of by previous generations. Only for those who hate us to allow in a culture who believes our women are prey to the sexual demands of their savage religion, who treat (and beat) their own women as second class brood mares and who have the utter gall to believe the ravings of their founder mean that they are ubermenschen who have the answers to everything life throws at them including how to govern us whilst extracting protection money off us for the privilege.
Rema Begum is not the first to fall foul of their abomination of a religion, she won't be the last, their are hundreds of young girls out their who have been abused and know exactly what islam stands for.
There is no place for islam in a civilised society, simple as that, it has to go.

It's not immoral nor is it illegal

If MP's were truly serious about stopping 'tax avoidance' then they'd actually change the laws to eradicate the loopholes in the system that people and companies exploit rather than bleat about it for 'big headlines' in which they berate companies for doing something quite legal because certain pressure groups can't quite grasp the difference between illegal, immoral and campaigning to get the laws changed rather than having a go at those they think are cheating...
Mail.
The 'immoral' tricks used by corporate giants to avoid UK tax were laid bare yesterday.
Executives from Google, Starbucks and Amazon revealed how they base operations offshore and route profits to tax havens.
They had been summoned by MPs to explain why they contribute little or nothing to the Treasury's coffers. In a three-hour inquisition:
  • Google admitted funnelling profits to a company in the tax haven of Bermuda;
  • Starbucks said it had a deal with the Dutch government to minimise its tax bill and 'buys' coffee through Switzerland even though the beans never touch Swiss soil;
  • Amazon admitted basing its European operations in Luxembourg because of the low tax there;
  • The internet giant also claimed not to know its UK turnover.
Protest group UK Uncut yesterday vowed to take direct action on December 8 to try to shut down some of the nation's 700 Starbucks outlets.
Ah UK Uncut, a group who claim not to be left wing nor right wing but an alternative, yet who appear to be socialist to the core in their hard of thinking attitude towards tax avoidance which is a perfectly legal activity and should be practised by all good citizens and companies.
Direct action against companies not breaking the law? Yes that will be the left, rather than target ministers to change the law to close down the loopholes which allow such avoidance.
We really do seem to be in thrall to some utter cretins don't we? MP's summon some companies to ask them why they are using the tax laws in exactly the way they were meant to be used? Laws that some of those MP's would have had a hand in drafting? Certainly laws that some would have voted for when the budget was presented to the house. Even the Committee chairman Margaret Hodge (Ah yes, Labour, I should have guessed) would have voted for laws having been passed by the previous administration now sees a way to try and use the public's ignorance for political capital. I suspect she knows fine well that the companies are not breaking the law, or I would hope so or God help her constituents in Barking. She's just using it as a means to get at the government for laws Labour probably passed. She's just another one of these idiots who think that taxing the rich will make us all rich. Her definition of fair probably means the lowest common denominator (MP's excepted) for all rather than giving anyone the opportunity to become wealthy.
This committee is simply playing headline grabbing as a means to hit the government, it isn't interested in changing things, merely looking good.
