Bye Dad

The trip I made on Saturday to say goodbye was well timed, it was my Dad's last lucid day. He passed away yesterday in the arms of my Mum something I believe in the end was a mercy.
He never made the headlines. He never sought fame.
His only pride other than believing he was punching well above his weight in landing my Mum as his wife was his children and eventually his grand-children and great grand-children.
He was a good man, much loved and his only fault... if indeed it was a fault would be to burst out in song at the top of his voice in Tesco's to a song over their tannoy and embarrass the hell out of whoever was with him.
The world for me is a little darker today because part of the light in it has dimmed.
Goodbye Dad, you're in a much better place now.

My condolences, QM. In time, the light will burn brighter again, and the memory of your dad will give you strength.

Very sorry to hear that. Every death is unique, and we all have to face it in our own way, but my Dad passed away three and a half years ago, and my Mum earlier this year, so I have some idea of how you must be feeling.

Joyful exuberance. Good for him.

And you've done him justice by this simple eulogy, he would be so proud of you.

Remember him fondly and take joy in seeing his little foibles in yourself and his grandchildren.

You'll still miss him in 20 years time, i do.

Regards

Judd

At the end of the day it's not the years in your life that count, but the life in your years.

My thoughts are with you and your family.

My condolences. Death is part of life, but it does not get any easier knowing that. At my time of life death seems to make its unwelcome way far too often.

Dear QM,

Like all the messages, I pass my condolences too. I don't know you, nor your father but I do appreciate the pain of your loss. Nearly 2 years since I lost my dad. I spoke to him the day before he died, not realising if was for the last time. And so 2 years later as a middle aged man, I still feel my self well up when I think about what it is I have lost. Losing anyone close at any age is tough but a son losing his dad is not easy. And as for those who say it gets better with time, it doesn't. The line I always quote and I think is very apt for your post is..... To live in the hearts of those we love is to never die. I think your dad will live for a very long time indeed. God bless you. - RDC
