Dark days

My father was diagnosed with having an untreatable cancer today, he's in good spirits, but the experts reckon on about a year. He's off to see some more specialists next month for chemotherapy to see if they can contain it, though sadly not get rid of it.
On top of this one of my good Lady's brothers also has an inoperable tumour, nothing they seem to be able to do is having an effect on it. He's not doing so well either.
Seems I'm going to be doing some travelling over the next few months to a year.

Goodbye's are so very hard.

Sorry to hear your sad news QM.

At such times words are virtually useless, suffice it to say: Chin up, dear chap......

Really sorry to hear that QM, awful. Not much else to say

Very sorry to hear this QM - lost my Dad two years ago, now my Mum has dementia and so does my mother in law - my wife and I are finding things tough and doubtless will do till nature takes its course. Thoughts are with you...

Genuinely sorry to learn about this QM ..

If they're both "untreatable" let's at least hope that their pain can be adequately controlled ..

My missus has the same, am looking after her now. We have been together for over 30 years. Life's a bugger. Treatment is not as harsh as in the past and 'normal' life can exist. Take heart.

QM. I'm sorry to hear your news. Do try and make the rest of their days as happy as possible.

Very sorry QM

Sad news, but at least you have the opportunity to spend time with them and say and do all the things that you might regret not doing later - grasp it with both hands my dear fellow.

I'm sad to hear your news, QM, and I hope that the end comes without too much pain. As you say, good-byes are hard to say, but get out of the way anything that's stopping saying a good one when the time comes.

Then you won't have an excuse to beat yourself up - not that we don't all do it, anyway.

Thoughts, prayers, good wishes - and remember, miracles do happen; if not in this case, then do whatever you can.

I lost my father to cancer earlier this year. Unfortunately he deteriorated very quickly, and the chance to say proper good-byes was lost in the ensuing chaos. I do hope you make the best of what time you have together.

My thoughts are with you.
