So in order to have diversity and equality, the personal guard of political and state leaders are to be armed with a gun that has less hitting power and is less accurate.MEMBERS of Scotland Yard’s elite bodyguard unit are being armed with smaller, lighter “baby” guns as part of a drive to attract more female officers. The move is aimed at recruiting bodyguards with smaller hands. However, critics fear that it could hamper close protection officers who guard the Queen, David Cameron and other VIPs if they have to fend off an attack from terrorists or a lone gunman.“It’s a disadvantage because the smaller guns have less firepower and are less accurate,” said a police firearms expert.Supporters deny the Yard is putting political correctness before security. They say the change is part of a legitimate attempt by Metropolitan police bosses better to reflect the community.
Words fail me.

What absolute rubbish - in my days in the army I had as my personal weapon a standard 7.62mm SLR. This, as anyone who had to carry one will tell you, is no lightweight weapon, and boy if you hit the target it damn well stayed down - dead as a doornail!!
By the way - I was a female last time I checked :) - so stop ranting about females and diversity and start ranting about the idiots who make these decisions on our behalf.
Give the girls an M1911.
It wasn't aimed at Females Michele, it was aimed at those who felt they had to pander to them in order to top up their gender equality profiles. I have no problems with anyone doing a job so long as they are able, but I do have considerable reservations about downgrading the tools of the trade in order to attract applications. It could mean the difference between someone surviving an attempt on their life or not.
I wonder what the cops think about this? They do, after all, rely on EACH OTHER when the chips are down, and I can't think they are too happy about this...
How disgraceful our wonderful VIPs and Politicians not getting the correct kit to protect them.
It's an Outrage.
@ Anon,
I'm far more concerned about innocent bystanders being killed by loons before they are taken down than politicians. ;-)
